How many gears does a 1994 C280 Mercedes Benz have and at what RPM does they change from gear to gear?

i only feel 3 changes up to 70 MPH and the RPM is at 3000 and does not change again.

Is the check engine light coming on, Fluid level and condition -okay,could be a sticking shift solenoid/clogged valve body, etc-bring it in and have it pressure tested to find out more what's going on.
