There is all kinds of antifreeze leaking down between the oil pan and the transmission. Cannot find the leak stream above it so I'm thinking it's internal. So before I tear into it on a budget... Where could it be coming from?

Use a mirror and check it from the top carefully. Those types of leaks usually originate somewhere on top but if it's truly coming from inside the bellhousing, that would be a freeze plug in the rear of the block.

Thank you. I will double check and go from there.

I have not been procrastinating, but busy. I do think it is a freeze plug.... Or a cracked block (crossed fingers).... I have everything off the motor and I am trying to pull it from the Rodeo. I have the flywheel etc. about two inches out of the bell housing but I am having a hell of a time getting it any further. Is there something with the clutch that I am missing that is still holding the motor in?? I feel retarded, but I am an industrial mechanic and this is actually the first motor I have ever tried to remove; so before I break anything I thought I would ask.

I have no idea why you are trying to remove a motor for a coolant leak that you haven't even confirmed yet.

The only thing there is freeze plugs. I do not think the block is cracked. I just want to get it out in one piece and not break anything. If it's not an obvious answer then I will just go about my way.

Blocks don't crack in the rear. If they crack, and that is rare, it will be in the side of the block parallel to a cylinder.

If you did have to access the back of the engine, removing the transmission is how it would be done.

No one I talked to had any info except the freeze plugs. I could not see anything else to contest. So I am pulling the motor. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'll never learn without doing it. So I am. Was just looking for a helpful hint if there was one.

Ok that's awesome. I will put the motor back on the mounts and try my luck with the trans. Thank you.

I'm having the same problem.. I pulled the transmission and there seems to be a small hole like a weep hole on the back of the block water just runs out.. If its a freeze plug then it's the smallest I've ever seen. Where could this water be coming from.

Can you take a picture and upload it so we can see what it is?

I've figured it out finally, Thanks Ken.. It was actually a drain hole at the back of the block to drain collected water from a leak. The leak was coming from a coolant line under the intake at the back of the motor Go figure, I'm still learning though.
