My fuel pump priming is delayed it takes 5 or more minutes for the fuel pump to actually turn on. It really just depends if the car has been sitting for hours on how long it takes to start. I replaced the fuel pump relay after jumping it off today and it did not fix the problem. I also pulled my fuel pump out completely and tested it today. It seems to be fine but my car still will not start up immediately. What could the problem be? Please help...

Check the ECM, remove it and check for signs of leaking capacitors.
Does the Check Engine Light turns off after 2 seconds?

No once it starts the check engine light stays on. The light only cuts off once my fuel pump cuts on then once i crank the car it will cut on again. Does that have something to do with the problem? And thank you for answering my question ill check the ECM when i get time this week.

Yes, for this model when the ECM fails intermittently, it would affect the PGM-FI main relay ( which you mentioned having replaced) and fuel pump operations.

Did you check for trouble codes?

Hey guys, how's it going? I have the same problem with my 1994 Honda Civic, I did have a check engine light too but turned out to be a temperature sensor. I fixed it but my car still has the same problem where it take a long time to start. Any Ideas?

Did you service the throttle body? Also, I would check for vacuum leaks.
