1994 Geo Prizm check engine light on code 12

Car runs well but check engine light came on a few days ago. I tried pulling ECM fuses but code came right back. What should I do next and can I still drive the vehicle

code 12 is no rpm signal to the ecm. if the engine is off and key on, this is normal
if it is running, then you have a issue with either the crank sensor or the distributor.
