1994 Geo Prizm brakes and motor

My prizm is have problems running it is acting like a vacuum leak but also my brakes aren't working but pads,shoes,rotors, and drums are new. A couple weeks ago i couldn't get it to start then finally did and i ran fine till i got on the free way and hit 55 and it cut out motor power. is my brake problem related? how can i figure out how to fix it?

Pump the brake pedal (with the engine off) several times. Does the brake pedal get hard?
What specifically do you mean by the brakes are not working. Does it take a more than normal pressure to the brake pedal to slow/stop the vehicle? Try this and get back to me, TY

it acts like it has no pressure i checked all the valves for leaks from to make sure it was't just air and its not that i have brake fluid threw the whole system. The brake booster is connected to the intake system so i am thinking that i have a vacuum leak that is causing both my motor and brake problem.

Look at the bottom of the master cylinder where it is bolted to the brake booster. Do you see any fluid or paint peeling away from the booster? Is there any fluid droplets on the inside of the vehicle where the brake pedal rod goes through the firewall into the brake booster?
Remove the master cylinder mounting bolts (remove the vacuum supply hose from the brake booster first) pull the master cylinder away enough to look inside the booster for brake fluid leakage and the back side of the master cylinder for fluid leakage. Is there any? A leaking (leaking vacuum) brake booster due to age or brake fluid leakage can cause a large vacuum leak causing the engine not to run smoothly or at all depending on to severity of the leak. Try this and get back to me, TY
