What does my instruments keep blowing

Bad grounds or a short circuit.

But only the mileage recorders are affected. All my other instruments work fine.

The odometer and tripometer are on separate circuits from everything else. They operate off the output shaft speed sensor on the left side of the transmission. Check the wiring from to and from the sensor. Check the sensor.

What about changing my rear brake drums to disks? I was thinking of changing them over.

There are kits for that. Look up parts stores and speed shops in your area.

Two places you might try looking online would be Jeg's, Summit Racing, and JC Whitney. Ok. Three places, but I remembered Whitney as I was typing.

Also, I've looked at engine rebuild kits. The average price I've seen is $1,000. Is this a good price? Thanks for the help. And lol about the shorts, that's usually the way it goes!

It depends on what you get with the kit. $1,000, with all the gaskets, bearings, seals, and a new cam is pretty good, especially if you're paying retail. I paid a little over $800 a number of years ago for a rebuild kit for an 8-cylinder engine, but I paid wholesale price.

unfortunately none of these come with a camshaft. I guess I'll have to buy it separate.

Huh. Nor lifters, either. Guess I should have looked more closely. I saw the cam bearings in the images and thought they were the cam. Check out JC Whitney and Jeg's first. Also check with Rockauto.

are these ditial or anolog milage numbers?i would get a rebuilt short block.so that spects. are mantained it cheaper than a full motor.order the short block. remove your heads to be rebuilt.replace the oil pump and swap the oil pan.u dont know what your gonna find bad in that old motor!

That is a good point. Tear it down first, then decide whether or not to rebuild.
