how about a compression test? does it sound even in rythum when it cranks over with fuel or spark disabled?

HOW DO I DO COMPRESSION TEST? HOLD MY FINGER IN SPARK PLUG HOLE? DONT UNDER STAND SPARK OR FUEL DISABLED--IT IS GETTING GOOD SPARK-NEW PLUGS AND WIRES-JUST KIND OF HICCUPS EVERY SO OFTEN WHEN SITTING IDLE--NOT A SOUND, BUT AN ACTION OF THE ENGINE---tHAT DIRTY ROTTEN GOOD FOR NOTHING!!NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE CAUSED ME TO TAKE NEW BATTERY TO GET TESTED----i HAD IT , i THOUGHT TIGHT AS IT WOULD GO--i COULDNT MOVE IT WITH MY HAND---YET WHEN ALL SYSTEMS WENT DEAD, i TIGHTENED THAT SUCKER SOME MORE. i MUST HAVE PUT 40 FOOT POUNDS ON IT---EVERYTHING STARTED WORK ING AGAIN--GOT NEW CABLE COMING TOMORROW.

I got a code 32 it says egr positioner sensor below closed limit---I have no idea what that means--trying to take egr valve off, no possible room to put wrench on outlet port going to engine---if i had combo wrench to fit it would cut it in half--can't find my one inch--had some tools stolen last month--sure do miss them. went to end of pipe where it goes into engine, smell gas and it is wet where it screws into engine-- why would the egr pipe to the engine get into the gas supply?? I really don't inow what all this stuff does---I doknow that positioner sensor is 88.00 at jc whitney-- I rather liked the original confederate guy, general robert e. and his horse Traveler. I am great student of civil war- Thought I might have valve seat problem but just listened to a video of an engine that had one and mine sounds a lot better than that --acutally its pretty quiet when it isn't surging or accelerating. I took a piece of hose and listened to its little sounds all over. take a pic of wet pipe and EGR. anyway fuel lines could getting gas onto pipe if leaking?

I have an escort with a similar problem. Mine's only got 102,000 miles though. I'm going to try a compression test this weekend.
