Backup lights would not always go off now it won't go off at all it killed my battery. I used to tap the brakes and it would turn off this happens when car is turned off

Are you talking about the backup lights or brake lights? The backup lights can't stay on with the ignition switch off and they have nothing to do with the brake pedal. If the brake lights stay on and tapping the pedal makes them go off, the switch is likely out of adjustment.
