Was there power to the switch? It should be hot all the time. Have you checked fuses?

the brown wire is the problem. it always is without fail the brown wire. i have redone the wiring of the brown wire on about 15 trucks that body style because of that problem. its possibly the taillight circuit boards but i doubt it. check the broyn wire for a break or short.
