dash lights quit working

i have a 93 jetta gl.the prob is that the dashlights quit working,speedometer is not working and stereo is in safe mode.checked fuses and that is not the prob.Any ideas??any help will be greatly appreciated

checked fuses,and now i am stumped.could light switch cause all or some of these probs

The light switch sends power for the lighting, but shouldn't stop the speedo or stereo. Check for bad body grounds.
