I bought a 1993 Camry 2.2l recently. I have a parasitic drain that I was able to pinpoint to the efi circuit. I found the efi main relay is missing and has a jumper wire instead which creates the parasitic drain. I've bought and installed the relay but it will not start. The car runs great but I have to unplug the jumper wire to save my battery. I found out that there's a circuit opening relay in back of the glove box that is part of this circuit. Which is the circuit opening relay? I see three relays above the glove box. Could replacing the relay help? Can I test it first? Any other suggestion as to what could be causing the drain? Thanks in advance for your help.........frank

The jumper is the one causing the parasitic drain.

In Rely box #6, the central relay is the circuit opening relay.

CIRCUIT OPENING RELAY

1. Ensure ignition is off. Remove circuit opening relay. Using ohmmeter, check continuity between specified terminals.

2. Check circuit opening relay operation by applying battery voltage and ground and checking continuity between specified terminals. Replace
circuit opening relay if defective.

Thank you for your quick response...I check continuity between terminals, and applied voltage and ground and check continuity and both tests check as specified. The relay seems good.Do you think I might have a short between relays?

I don't think it is a short between relays. More likely an open in the circuit resulting in the EFI main relay not being energised, the reason for using a jumper.

You need to test the wiring circuit between the circuit opening and EFI relay.

Id did a continuity check on all 4 wires from efi main relay to under dash by glovebox. All wires have continuity. Except blk/wht wire and grn/wht wire were grounded. #28,#5 on the main relay. Is that normal?

The wire is shared by other circuits and if those cmponents are not unplugged, there would be continuity.
