I recently replaced the coil pack and distributor, and my car still isn't starting. I was thinking that it may be the timing belt, but need to know how to check it myself. Also, if you have any suggestions....please help.

start with compression test to verify the belt

there is a tool you can rent from a parts store. remove the plugs and follow the directions
