Thats a good question when i remove a air bag coil i put the wheels striaght tape the air bag coil in place then remove it.That way i know its not going to break did this one come taped?

no it did not come taped. but i read on another forum that this guy just turned it by hand from one stop to the next, counted the revolutions and placed the center piece at half of the counted revolutions. would this be a good way to center as long as the wheels of my saturn are centered. being as how the spring was not taped when i recieved it. i turned it to the right extremety and it held its own when it reached its limit so i do believe it is still a good clock spring because it is not making the same sound as the one in my steering column.

Yes that would be your best bet since it wasnt taped thats what i was going to suggest doing.Just tape it when you get it centered so its ready to install.

got the clock spring replaced. and everything works great. the clock spring has a little more than 5 total available revolutions when the steering wheel has 3. all i did was make sure there was 1 more revolution available for the spring counting from the right than the steering wheel did. works fine.

Check all four cradle bolts for being tight also check the nuts on the bolts that hold your lower control arms to the sub frame. They have to be really tight even being slightly loose will cause them to make a poping noise.Let me know what you find.
