When driving my car, I can smell unburned gas fumes in the car?

I noticed that it only does this in the afternoon (lunch time) and my drive home versus in the morning when it is still cool outside. I live in Phoenix, Arizona, how cool can it be. I thought it may be the charcoal canister, but the car only has around 35,000 miles on it. Any suggestions? Thanks.
