engine overheated now the transmission won't shift

i have a olds delta 88 1993.last night my husband pick me up from work noticed car running hot due to radiator hose. The car ran hot do to hole in radiator hose. The car would not shift. We turned car off let cool down. The car would shift. We changed radiator hose and filled with water, now the car will not shift at all
