Evaporator replacement

Good morning,

It is very tight but can be done without removing the dash. The center console will have to be removed.

It pays around 5 hours in the book. Plan on at least double that time if you are going to do it yourself.

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Discharge A/C system.
3. Drain cooling system.
4. Evaporator core block connection at cowl.
5. Heater hoses from core.

NOTE Blowing out residual coolant from inside the heater core will prevent coolant leakage into the passenger compartment when the heater core is removed.

6. Heater core cover. Refer to Heater Core Case.
7. Heater core.
8. Evaporator core cover.
9. Evaporator.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Evaporator.
2. Evaporator core cover.
3. Heater core.
4. Heater core cover. Refer to Heater Core Case.
5. Heater hoses to core.
6. Evaporator core block connector.
7. Fill cooling system and check for leaks.
8. Negative battery cable.
9. Evacuate, charge, and leak-test A/C system.

Thanks. I'm retired now, and wavap s a ASE master tech at a GM dealership, but never had to do a evap on one of these W bodies. Was afraid itd be like some Ford's like the crown vic where the entire dash and heater evap case had to come out. Wasn't able to find any guides or manuals for this old of a car. Thanks a lot
