Sir i had this rattling noise from the engine since a few weeks now. I am not driving the car since i got it initially. a local mechanic told me that it is the sound of the bigend bearings, and the reason he told me was that i had not changed the engine oil for quite a time. now i am going through real tension. kindly get me out of it. Kindly tell me how to change the big end bearings and how costly it is...plus i havent ever seen bigend bearings how they look....
regards.

first thing for the rattling sound start the engine and pullone spark plug wire at a time if rattling goes away orsubsides it may be a rod bearing not a main. However I fyou pull the pan and see that the crank has grooves init or is scored in ay way you need to put a crank kit in it as well as have your rods resized. this is really an engine overhaul is best to take care of this. we dont' really have a good pic of the bearings.this is a generic pic of crankshaft bearings. pointed in pic
