why wont my car go into gear?

my 93 nissan maxima does not move anywhere wen i shift...there was a loud popping noise when it stopped moving....when i press the gas pedal it just goes nowhere in any gear! what could this be???

The transmission is slipping-bring it in and have it further diagnosed-How's the fluid level and condition?

its not slipping it just wont go anywhere whatever gear i put it in it just wont move it just revs....

the condition is great and the fluid level is fine...

What is this an auto or a manual transmission? Don't matter its still slipping-check gear linkage at tranny
