After rebuilding the v.v. carburetor the engine starts then after stopped, it will not start again

when it refuses to start can you get it going with fuel in the carb or is it still dead?

Its still dead when I try it with fuel in the carb. after trying several times it gives a sign of near start but will not catch up!

does it run well when it does start? you may want to check the plugs first. if theyre old you might want to do a tune up
