1993 Mitsubishi Diamante mileage: 120,000. The right front and left rear brakes seem to be working fine, but the left front and right rear are slow to start working, and then after releasing the pedal it takes a couple of seconds for them to release. My mechanic told me that the master cylinder needed to be replaced so I paid to have that done. This did not fix the problem. Now he is telling me that it is the ABS Unit. He also said that the master cylinder was definitely bad and needed to be replaced regardless of the fact that it didn't fix the problem. I have a hard time believing it is the ABS unit. When you push hard on the brakes the ABS appears to be working correctly. In addition, there is no ABS light on. Any ideas? Thanks.

From what you describe, it does sound like the ABS unit may be faulty.
