cv joint replacement

I have a 1993 Mercury Topaz and i am attempting to change the driver's side front cv joint. I have the old one out but the pin dropped blocking the way for me to install the new one... How do I push the pin back up and keep it up to where it should be?

I don't fool with the joint, I replace the half shaft. I'm not sure what pin your talking about, give me a minute.

The picture below, I don't see a pin? Sometimes I use heavy grease to hold something in place, but, in the diagram, I don't see anything?
