Fuel cut off light is on

I was wondring if you know ware to start on this one. the car was running and it stalled and would not start again, i pressed the fuel cut off switch in the trunk. It was tripped to reset it and the car still would not start,it cranks over but nothing I cant even here the fuel pump comming on. If there is any way to by pass the switch or where to start trouble shooting would be great. Thank you so much.
