i think my fuel pump went out but im not sure if its that or not

i was driving down the street and went to speed up and the car did not speed up. so i pulled on to a side street and the car stopped and did not want to start back up i thought that i maybe ran out of gas because the gas gadge is messed up but when i put fuel in it, it did nothing. i tryed banging on the bottom of the gas tank while trying to start it and it also did nothing. also after sitting outside for about a week i went out to try and start it and it no longer sparked the starter but i think that the battery died because the driver door was no closed all the way.
