My car (93 corsica) was doing this lurching when i pressed on the gas (car felt like it was lucrching back and forth) I assumed it was the gas in the tank. Anyways last week as i was driving all of a sudden as i pressed on the gas there was no reaction, and i pulled the car over. I turned off the car and tried starting it again and now it wont start at all it turns on but it wont fire up....my car had no issues with starting before this. As for the lurching it had been doing that since i started and it was no worse or better before this happened. (also it didn't do it all the time just once in awhile. \r\n
Anyways i have replace the coils and selonoid for the car, figuring there was an issue with them....and it seems to be a little better but still wont fire up??? Could this be an issue with the idle air control valve for my car? I dont want to go out and spend more money on parts if its not and i can really afford to buy another car or pay for a mechanic to figure out my problem....do you have any suggestions?

Also i did purchase a code reader, but my husband reset the battery trying to figure something out. Anyways he reset the computer codes and now it wont pick up a code, and the car wont idle so it doesn't pick any codes up!

If it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the plugs. If you have spark everywhere, use a gage and check fuel pressure. Some of the national brand autostores used to loan out a fuel pressure gage. How long since a tune-up? I understand not wanting to spend a bunch, but, if you do regular maintenance on the vehicle, it is less likely to leave you stranded.

I make sure to do regular maintenance on my vehicle. I change the oil roughly every 5,000 kilometers and i maintain fuel levels to make sure the car runs smoothly. I just recenltly (approx 3 months ago)changed the plug wire and checked the spark plugs. Although i know it never hurts to replace the spark plugs, so i will make sure to replace those as well. My husband and i are going to check the fuel pressure with a gage and we will go from there i guess, thank you for your response...i definately appreciate your imput :)

Let us know about the fuel pressure. Changing fuel and air filters is part of a tune-up. About the fuel filter, make sure there is no pressure on the system before taking any lines loose. I've changed fuel filters in the past, where the gas in the filter looked like muddy water. Had to put new pump in thaT one.

So my husband and I visually checked for spark at the plugs and there was no spark, no nothing! I feel like i'm doing things backwards now... Do you have any insight on where i go now with the spark plugs? I also know i changes my air filter just before the christmas holidays! I still will change the fuel filter...probably wouldn't hurt to change it out anyways :)

Did you check sparK at more than one plug? Also, check for voltage and ground at the ignition module. At one end of ignition module may be one, two wire connector, one wire is pink, the other black. Take the connector loose, use testlite between two terminals on the loose connector, key on, does the testlite come on? If that is ok. I'd change out the crank sensor.

It is possible the ignition module has a problem, but, at the moment, can't be sure. The crank sensor around 20 bucks, the ignition module around a hundred. So, I usually start with the crank sensor. I want to warn you, sometimes that crank sensor is a son-of-a-gun to remove, if original sensor. Let us know.

Actually just replace the crank sensor last night hoping it was the issue becasue we lost all power from the car yesterday. After replacing it lastnight we are back were we were! A little more momentum but still missing that last bit of spark to get her going!

And yes we did check the spark on more than one plug, but nothing! I will work at checking everything you mentioned tonight and see what i come up with! Also could a v6 need a electronic spark controller? I have heard that newer v4 vehicles sometimes have them, but not to sure about my vehicle consider its a 93! I dont know to much about these sesnors but i have heard that they can stop the vehicle from turning over at all...maybe a little more research is need on my part! Anyways thanks again for everything i will try what you have suggested and keep you posted :)

No esc module on this vehicle. If the wiring checks out, I suspect the ignition module.

Thanks for your help after i replaced the crank sensor...i let her charge up and she is running good again! I tried out the code reader right away and its says nothing! I will be trying it again as soon as she hits 120 kms :) Have a good day thanks very much for your help :)
