I put a 94 olds 88 engine in my Lasabre, the olds had a 3 pintle egr. Original had a single pintle.

It passed inspection fine here where I live but I gave it to my sister in Ohio. Emissions failed. What all do I have to change to get it back to the original egr valve system. Someone told me the lower intake and bracket assembly. Does the engines have the same exhaust and intake tubes or do I have to change the exhaust manifold and throttle body assembly. I currently can't remember how the original engine was hooked up nor can I see the current engine since the car is in Ohio. Thanks for any help you can offer, cause I sure want to get it passed for her. I can find the parts used I think.

If the engine is the same size, the intake and exhaust manifolds SHOULD be the same. What size engine is it and what year is the LeSabre?

The car is a 93 lesabre 3800 with a linear EGR valve. The olds wiring harness wouldn't fit the Buick plug so I changed it to the original Buick harness which worked fine until I got to the egr which didn't fit. The olds engine had the 3 port egr the buick the single port. Question is how do I change back to the original linear egr. If I buy the bracket with the exhaust tube and the intake tubes will this be all I need to get? My concern was, would the tubes fit the existing intake and exhaust. I don't want to drive to Ohio (about 500 mi) and not have the right parts to complete the job. I have located the bracket and the lower tube that goes to the exhaust, I work for advance so a new linear egr is not a problem (we stock it. It being a series 1 engine I think the intake itself is fine. I'm trying to get my relatives in Ohio to send me photos of the egr and how it's hooked up now. (I have forgotten)

Both engines are the 3800..the LeSabre is a 93. Olds replacement, I was told by the salvage yrd a 94 Olds 88. I had to change the wiring harness because the olds wouldn't plug into my computer. This worked fine except the plug for the EGR. The original had a linear single port Egr, the olds a 3 port. My concern is what to buy to make the egr system back to original so the wiring harness will work. Will just buying the egr bracket and both intake and exhaust tubes fit the olds engine?

Since you work at a parts store, I would recommend grabbing one of each from the shelves and comparing them.

That's not my problem, I know which egr was the original and I bought it. My question is if I get the used bracket and tubes from a vehicle with the 3800 will this and the new egr valve be all I need? I can't visualize how the engine that's in the car now was configured. Nor am I sure the tubes (exhaust manifold and intake) will be the correct tubes.

I've got the same problem you do: I can't see it, so I can't tell. My references don't give information such as bend angles, bolt sizes, or tubing diameters. They just show routing information, sometimes, and I can look up schematics so I can tell you what color wire goes where. I can tell you that looking at another company's website, the two parts don't look like they'd match up properly as far as the mating surfaces. Meaning that it doesn't appear to me that they'd actually be able to mount up properly.
