1992 VW Rabbit belt and pulley system

1992 VW Rabbit mileage: 152,000. This is going to sound pretty stupid, but I took my car apart 3 months ago to remove the alternator. Had to get the AC out of the way first. Okay, here's the stupid part, I can't figure out the belt and pulley system. I've got the one (one? really? were there two originally? don't know.) belt & it doesn't seem to be long enough to go around the pulleys. I have a Haynes manual, & it doesn't even help. I'm an idiot. Help!!!

I You can download the wiring and belt diagrams from a program called shop key. For a small fee you can have unlimited access to all the diagrams for your model car for a week a month or a year. It will depend which program fits your car repair project. The Mitchell CD ROM is a great resource too.
