I just purchased a 1992 Pontiac Grand Am with a rebuilt engine. Driving it and the Brake light came on and brakes all the way to the floor. When I brake the car pulls to the left and the brake fluid was completely empty. When I refilled the fluid the light came off. It seems like a wheel cylinder problem. Also, when the car is warm and idling it sounds like the idle is not set correctly. Does this sound like a timing problem to you? Sounds like it is reving up all by itself.

As far as the brakes go, check all four wheels(brakes) for leaking hydraulices or split flex hoses, this is a diagonal braking system, meaning the right rear and left front are paired off the master cylinder, and left rear and right front, so a leak in the right rear will cause it to pull left, or a frozen caliper or leak at the right front.. Check the booster for any vacuum leaks AFTER you repair the hydraulics. A leak in the booster will cause idle problems.

Usually with a brake fluid leak, it runs down the back side of tire. Are you ABS? As far as bleeding, there could be a lot of pressure at brake lines. You need to follow proper procedure.

As far as the idle issue, how long since a tune-up? Any applicable mil codes? Clean the throttle-body and check iac. At the moment, can't say about the timing. You can check cylinder compression.
