I have an odd brake booster on a 92 voyager LE. I have ABS on it. Booster went out, and I can't find a replacement. Is it possible to change unit to something else?

Did they do something different for a while, and then change the parts? And can I change to a different system that has parts available?

That's the Bendix-10 system, and it's REAL effective at creating shorter stopping distances even though that's not what ABS is intended for. Power assist comes from pressurized brake fluid. I ordered it on my '93 Dynasty.

What problem or symptom are you having?

I have no pedal. It takes two feet to stop the ting. No power assist. I tried to find this system at the local auto parts store, and no one has it. Junk yard doesn't either. It is the square (ish) system rather than the traditional disc shaped. Suggestions?

Do you hear the pump running when you turn on the ignition switch? If not, check for a blown fuse. If the pump runs continuously, there is an inline filter than can be plugged, but more likely there is internal leakage past a seal. There was a recall to replace the piston assembly in the master cylinder. Yours should still be covered for that but as I recall, lack of power assist wasn't one of the symptoms.

You can find rebuilt hydraulic assemblies on rockauto.com but first the system should be diagnosed to be sure it's not the pump that's causing the problem. I have the tool that was used to diagnose a pump that ran continuously. It includes a pressure gauge and valve. That allowed the system to be blocked to see if the pump could develop the needed 2200 pounds of pressure.
