1992 Nissan sentra se 1.6L twin cam 16 valve
im having trouble keeping it running
it turns over but then dies after 5-10 second
I replaced the alternator and the battery along with the coolant temperature sensor
please help.
ALSO
I noticed my fuel pump relay fuse not the top but bottom fuse the one with wires coming out of it next to my other relays is half fried will it make my car keep dying?

Replace the relay. If it is bad, yes, it can stop the fuel supply.

You know, I just realized you said the fuse was burnt and not the relay. Have you trued replacing the fuse? It could have a bad connection which caused it to overheat and then lose power.

Keep in mind, the fuel pump itself may be bad causing all this to happen. Tell me, when it dies, does is restart again for a few minutes or do you have to wait for a period of time? If you have to wait, you need to check for fuel pump pressure to see if it is within the manufacturer's specs when it won't start.

I'm sorry but you have it backwords. Not the fuze but what the fuze connects to, the tray where all the other relays gets plugged into. Theres 4 or 5 of them , the fuze is fine for the fuel pump relay but it's what the fuze plugs into that I noticed is fried. Is there a part number for that or do I have to replace the whole relay tray? Thanks a lot I really been appreciative of your replies

When I go to start it , the car will run but only for about 10 seconds before it dies again. It won't stay running. I can try to start it again after it dies but it just does the same thing. Idles then dies.

It sounds like will need replaced. If it is melted, chances are there was a bad connection which created an arc and overheated. If that isn't making a good connection, chances are that is what is causing the problem. You could check to see if there is power to the fuel pump when it dies to confirm a loss of power. However, that will require you to remove the fuel tank..

This is what I noticed was fried. I'm guessing it's the fuel pump relay? Now should I replace all these relays to be safe? Or what would you consider after seeing this? Keep in mind that all the other ones don't look like this. Thanks a lot.

To be honest, that is just a plug and not an actual relay. If you removed the relay from it, was there any evidence of power arcing to the relay? On the pins where it plugs in, are there any black marks or burnt areas?

Yeah it' looks like there's some burnt marks and black marks from the fuse and relay... If that green thing ain't the relay though what is it called that's being corroded? Could I replace that? It has wires coming out the back leading down a black tube that runs to my what? Ecu? And Thanks a lot for replying this means so much to me as I need to get this car running again to start working again

Yeah I had to replace the original fuse with a new one I bought from orielly's . It was a black fuse instead of green which kinda threw me off but didn't really think of it. Could that be the problem? I replaced it with the wrong fuse that orielly's sold me?

The plug I see doesn't take a fuse. Something different should have been plugged into it. As far as the one you got, make sure it is the correct amperage. The color of the fuse usually indicates the amperage.

Hey here again. Still no luck on what could be the problem. Although I noticed this : it's the coolant temperature sensor, my car wouldn't start before I got it fixed. but as I look at the wiring I noticed it got stuck and fried a little could that be the cause? If it couldn't start before?

The temp sensor can cause a lot of problems if it isn't working properly or there is a wiring issue. Based on the supplied info from the sensor, the computer determines how rich or lean to make the fuel ratio. So, yes it could cause a problem.

Thanks . I checked the coolant temp sensor . Turns out that's fine. Could it be my distributer drive gear possibly? And maybe bad injectors? I'll attach a pic of my engine.

I need to start fresh. Can you keep the engine running if your foot is on the gas? Does it start right back up after a problem?

Alrighty so. It won't run. I can start the ignition tho and it will click and turn but doesn't seem like it wants to fire over to actually run and stay running. My local mechanic said it's engaging the transmission????? Back 8 months ago and I drove it home and it's been dead in my front yard since.
But before I went to him it drove okay. So idk if he ruined something so I'd have to go back to him???? Please help with any information or anything at all. It's much appreciated.

You mentioned that it is clicking when you try to start it. Are you sure the battery is charged? If it is turning the engine, we need to check for spark and fuel to the engine to see which is missing.

It's a new battery and I made sure i charged it too. I think your right though it does sound like fuel problem.

If it won't start with starting fluid, you aren't getting spark to the plugs. So yes, a crank sensor can cause that.

Well good news and bad news haha

Good news it was nothin serious and just needed gas hahahaha
However the oil pan was damaged and needed to be replaced
Did that

Bad news is the shop people didn't notice HALF MY DASH doesn't light up now.

(( After they did the job and I was already home I noticed it only the rpm gauge lit up and fuel gauge side.))) "notice I said they did the job on the oil pan already and never drive the car at night because they close at 5."

now since there shop closes at 5 and it doesn't get dark till then.
the lights in there shop would make the dash look like it lit up but it actually isn't. I asked for a full diagnostic before they did the oil pan repair, why did they not check that?

And before I took it to them to get a full diagnostic my dash lit up fully.

Now I'm stuck with a half lit dash and can't drive at night....
What should I do about all this?

Check both #s 4 and 6. I looked at my manual and it seems that is where it would fall.
