i have a 1992 ford ranger xlt 5 speed 2.3l and to start it i have to give it gas and turn it over about 20 or 30 times and it almost stalls out going into first i have to put the pedal to the floor and it does the same through all gears and it is "poping" sounds like a miss fire or a back fire through the exhaust manifold and i have done a complete tune up and replaced fuel filter and fuel pump and mass air flow sensor. what do i do now??

Hello,

It sounds like you may have a burnt exhaust or intake valve we should do a compression test these guides will help us

and

Please run down these guides and report back.

ok i have changed all wires plugs (none are crossed) it has no distributor changed fuel filter fuel pump catalytic converter erg erg sensor maf sensor and pcv. i have checked compression fuel pressure exhaust back pressure transmission spark (and gap in all plugs) timing. So I did a compression test and 2 cylinder were at 65 psi so I did the head gasket (blown between two cylinders) runs perfect.

Hello my name is Marc. I just recently purchased this truck. It ran great for like three days and then all the sudden started jumping around on me and backfiring and jumping a lot. lol... Then it got to the point where I lost power and it would not even start again. When it runs it seems to run great , but when that starts happening I have to let it cool off for quite a while and then do it again. Its not really even drive-able at this point because it happened so soon. Anybody have any ideas? I already changed the ignition module sensor. And I do not have power for them to check codes on shop my connector has no power to it for some reason. all the fuses were tested and tested good. Please help! Thank you so much everybody! :-)

check items in picture fuses and fusible link, then check fuel pressure with a gauge it the pump may be getting hot and not working.

I am assuming the battery is in good condition and has been load tested as well as timing belt is in good condition as well.

my problem with my truck is this.i have had new wires and plugs put on it plus a new fuel filter, but it is running rough when idling or when it is being driven anywhere. it misfires and is backfiring too.i need to know what else could be causing it to be doing this?

first pull the plugs off of the coil pack one at a time to remember where they go the metal piece where they connect should be bright and shiny
if the are not shiny that coil is bad

run some fuel injector cleaner through the gas tank

the only other possiblty is a bad fuel filter

i meant to say bad fuel pump

could be plug or wire bad. could be a failure in the camshaft or a too rich condition. you need to start at basics with making sure the plugs, wires and coil are in good operating order.
