1992 Ford F-150 problem

I have a 1992 F-150, when I put the key in the ignition and turn key to the on position, the truck automatically starts by itself and act like it stays in on position where it grinds real loud. When I turn the key off the dash lights stay on like the key is still in the on position so I have to disconnect the neg side of the battery cable. It effects the fuel pump, Windows, alarm, dome lights etc.. Is this a bad ignition switch or tumbler, or blinker assembly where all these wires seem to plug in then split off???? I'm lost and need help.. Can u help me out please?

if you dis-connect the battery it stops? when you hook the battery back up does the starter engage again? or is it ok until you turn the key the next time?

It's ok till I turn the key again then it does the same thing again

my money would be on the starter solenoid ,under the hood on the fenderwell,check all the wiring going to it and make sure the connections are clean,tight and not touching each other.if all those conditions are ok,i would suggest that you replace the starter solenoid.let me know how it goes.

The starter solenoid can cause these problems? It doesn't have anything to do with the ignition? Why does it seem like key is stuck in on position?

my reply was based on experience,i have seen this issue several times.i can not rule out an ignition switch or tumbler issue over the internet.just an experienced based answer.the solenoid can fail internally and back feed thru the ignition switch.

How much u think I can get one for? I greatly appreciate it.. Where do I go from there if that does not work? Should I just e mail u and let u know the results of this first?

I think the last one I got was around 35 bucks or so.you can post here and i'll get an email notification.in the mean time i'll work on some testing instructions for you,should the solenoid not resolve your issue.

I don't know what stores are available to you.but any reputable parts store should be fine.i would try to get a good brand though,something like standard,echlin,duralast,ect.
