It sounds like the bar or rod which actuates the lock from both the electric and the key lock may be dis-connected. You need to remove the inner door panel and take a look to really see what is happening. The panel will generally be held in with screws, sometimes covered with pop out covers, and held in with tabs and plugs. Remove the screws and gently pull on the panel to get it to come off. You will have to pull back some plastic sound deadening material and silicone back into place when done.
