okay, so you did not install the new alternator? You say you checked it before installing at and it does not charge, or you installed the new one and its still not charging?

The voltage regulator for this system is incorporated into the PCM but before condemning the computer you need to test all your fuses with a test light. Also test for power at the main terminal of the alternator with the KEY OFF.

If that is the main terminal you are referring to, then the fuse in that feed line is burned out. It looks like there is a 60 A fuse in the power distribution box that protects that line. There is also a connector right near the battery for that wire.

I have not found a fuse box under the hood all I have found are a ton of relays that don't have any markings. If I unhook the positive off the alternator and ran a new line would that work or would I fry something?

It has to be a heavy wire and it has to have a large fuse inline, probably 60 to 80 amps.

it has a 90 amp alt. does it feed the power back to the battery? or is it just the power to the alt? # 2 wire should work right

It feeds power back to the battery. 2 gauge sounds way too big. I would think 10 gauge should be sufficient, This really wouldn't be necessary if you just found the blown fuse or fusible link.

Try momentarily grounding the Dk Green wire and see if that makes it charge for that time.

Hey guys, 1994 Lebaron 3.0 liter new alternator power to the fields and battery voltage at big wire on alternator can ground the green wire and it charges wide open. so is that telling me the PCM is bad?

Good morning,

I attached a diagram for you. Make sure you have power to the dark blue and the dark green wire at the alternator.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-wiring

If you do, then you are correct. The ECM is not controlling the alternator.

Removal

1. Remove air cleaner duct from PCM.
2. Remove battery.
3. Remove mounting screws.
4. Remove wiring connector from the PCM.

Installation

1. Connect wiring connector to PCM.
2. Install PCM and tighten mounting screws.
3. Install battery and connect cables.
4. Connect air cleaner duct to PCM.
