Do you remove the CDM on a 1992 C1500 when installing an aftermarket stereo?

I have a 1992 Chevrolet C1500, I know that the CDM is bad that conrols the radio from under the dash. I'm going to install a aftermarket stereo in it anyways, do i need a new CDM before i install or do i just bypass it when I install a new one. I'd hate to waste money buying a CDM then having to remove it anyways. Thanks!

You can just bypass it and if you get a Stereo Installation Kit from an electronics or car stereo store, it will simply plug into the stock wiring harness and then splice into the aftermarket stereo. So, it will bypass it for you as it is integrated into aftermarket systems. It is just a central radio control unit to make radios in different configurations cheaper for Chevy.

You are very welcome. You can get good parts and stereo equpiment from Crutchfield.com, might be crutchfields.com.
Good prices, service and tech help. You can get a stereo installation kit from them that will make installation a breeze and bypasses the CDM. Definately keep the CDM or sell it on Criaglsit or something, they are not cheap.
