banging noise

i have a 1992 silverado 4x4 and when i go in reverse not all the time i get a loud bang and i get the same banging noise when i go over sudden bumps or dips in the road i changed the back u joints and same thing happens would it have anything to do with the transfer case thanks

single or multiple bang? sound metallic?

No it just bangs once in reverse but if i hit multible bumps it will bang or sudden drops in the road any bump really it seems to come from the passenger side and i dont hear any metallic sound or grinding cant figure it out had my front end checked nothing wrong there could a cv joint do this or would it bang all the time Thanks Aaron

when did this start? and cv is not likely.

Its been going on for a while doesnt seem to stop me from driving its just a issue if i hit bumps and it doesnt do it in reverse all the time only when theres a bit of a load on it like going in reverse on a bit of a incline i think its in the front diff ? how would i check the cv joints would i manually move them around to see if theres any type of play in the ujoints.its a stumper i like doing my own repairs if possible but when it comes to this its not my fortay Thanks Aaron
