interior lights are turning on intermittently while driving

when i cut my headlights on my interior dashboad lights flashes off and on alot then come on and stay on for a little bit then goes out for a little bit my dashboard interior lights flashes on and off then they pop on for a little while like 2 or 3 mins then they pop off for 2or 3 mins and keep repeating it self the whole time i got my headlights on what makes this do this
