what would cause sluggish or no power while driving

replace timing chain turn crankshaft til cylinder one is tdc and rotate just a lil to 5 put distributor rotor to 12 o clock position and insert it automatically rotated rotor to 10 o clock position start truck timing sounds right but when depressing gas has slow start to know power and tends to overheat please help
