renault clio 1.2 shuts down while driving

I have a 1993 renault clio 1.2 and i have a problem,
sometimes while driving, the car ads some rpm without touching the throtlle ,when that happens if i touch the throtlle the car shuts down and I cant start it for a few minutes,the mechanic changed the carburetor but nothing is changed
