Hi, I tried getting in my car one day to go somewhere and it would start. A few people told me that it was my timing belt. I ended up removing the radiator, fan shroud, fan and the top 2 timing belt covers to get to it ( The plenum is also removed to replace injectors ). When I looked at it, the top idler pulley was completely broken. I just pulled it off with my hand because there was nothing holding it on. I bought a new timing belt kit with a tensioner, 2 idler pulleys, and the timing belt. The bottom crank pulley is still on and the bottom cover. There is no tension on the timing belt so I was wondering what would be my next step.

Looking at the engine in Mitchell 1 data base this is an interference type engine and with a broken timing belt, you will have bent valves, the head must be removed to fix this problem.

Yeah, I know it might have bent valves but I wasn't driving it when it happened so there's still a chance that it won't right? And even if it does, I need to fix the timing so I can take it to a place to get a valve job if it does.

The valves will bend even if just cranking on the key, i doubt very much that it will run at all even if you put the belt back on.
