how do i pull the speedometer cable gear out of the trans.? I removed bolt and unscrewed aluminum housing, but i don't see any clip....plus the bolt doesn't release anything.

Try rotating the trans some in either direction while wiggling the speed sensor/cable out of the transmission. Make sure the clip is removed (and there isn't anything else holding it on) and all the bolts that hold it down are removed. Assuming the clip is removed as well as the bolts, work it out of the transmission. It should come out.
