brake lights stay on

Hi I had just replaced my brake hose on my 1991 honda crx. It was leaking brake fluid and the indicator on my dash was lit and the outside brake lights were on due to low brake fluid. After I replaced the brake line and bleeding the brakes on that side the outside brake lights stays on, even when the engine is off. Does this mean I need to bleed the other brakes too in order to keep the brakes lights from staying on? Please let me know what's up.

When you bleed the brakes, you should start at the wheel from the furthest wheel from the master cylender and work your way to the closest. All brakes should be bled.

As far as the brake lights, something tells me the brake light switch is to blame. It is located at the top of the brake pedal under the dash. Check it to see if it needs adjusted or has broken. When the brake fluid was leaking, chances are the brake pedal went to the floor. It could have damaged or broken. If it looks good, disconnect the brake light switch and see if the lights go out. If they do, replace the switch.

There is a plastic button that cancels the brake light switch when the pedal is released. It just snaps in the pedal, is inexpensive, and available at your local dealer. The part# should be 46505-sa5-000.

had the same thing happen to me in my 90 crx si...it was the little plastic button on the pedal that cancels the switch...used a penny and black tape to fix it
