Ok so my Transmission fluid needs to be changed and i never done it before. I read the owners manual for my car and it says to use Dexron 2. I looked for a brand that was most compatible and it would be Valvoline Dex/Merc. I was thinking about using the Valvoline High Mileage Dex/Merc since it's suppose to help the tranny a bit since mine is older, but i'm not sure about it. Should i just use the regular Dex/Merc Any Advice on this? Also, some of the instructions off Alldata at my school it says that i don't have a filter to change, and that i would have to change the seal on the transmission drain bolt. Is this true?

This transmission is not equipped with a filter. There is an oil strainer inside the trans and requires disassembly of trans to get at. It is a maintenance free component.

Drain bolt washer/gasket is recommended to be replaced as it is a use and discard component upon removal again. However it is seldome changed, unless the washer ( made of aluminium) is badly squashed.

Trans of the early 90s are not that sensitive to fluids and the minimum required is Dexron II so any fluids that is of a higher specs is ok. Personally I would not spend the extra money.
