leaking injector?

Problem: i have a ford escort that in park it will idle fine but in gear it idles down, also it will accellerate fine till about 30mph then it will go slugish. when putting the foot on the gas half way down to all the way down doesnt affect the acceration.also it only gets about 22 mpg

Things replaced or checked. Fuel filter, spark plugs and wires, mass air flow sensor, air filter, coil, throttle position sensor,coolant (there was no signs of oil in it or coolant in the oil) i did just change the tps it didnt seem to do much just idles better in gear. There is no check engine light on but it is a 91 and a obd1 i do have a 95 computer that is compatible with this car.

Hello,

Ok, you could have a couple different problems....

One the Fuel milage if you have dropped by about 5 mpgs or so this is usually cause by O2 Sensors.

The Idle and exeleration can be the Idle Air By-Pass Valve.

One other possibility is the EGR Pressure Feedback Sensor...

i have already replaced the front one if there is 2. i will try the other things.

Yes, there are 2 O2 sensors, One which you changes is in the exhaust manifold the other is down by either the cat or muffler.

Also check for exhaust leaks can send false readings to computer.

how can i check for exhast leaks? i also checked the egr bypass feedback sensor there is a conector but no sensor doesnt even look like there is a hose that is laying loose

Take a look at all the connections were the clamps are, if the is black soot then you have a leak, However, just a little at the connections is fine not enough to cause problems. Also look for rust hole in the pipes, muffler and cat. Ok, does the feed back sensor that you checked look like this.... https://www.2carpros.com/images/external/5234-07043733-1025049.jpg And you said the Vacuum Hose is missing? .

the sensor itself is missing, i believe this car doesnt have one. (i have a 95 and on the 95 it is mounted on the firewall almost in the center of the engine compartment) so im guessing if the 91 did have one it would be right there. yes i have 2 small leaks in the exhust one at the end of the muffler i believe and the other at a joint.

Ok, so I take it that you have the 1.8L engine and not the 1.9L.
I don't think the 1.8 had the sensor.

The exhaust leaks - the leak at the end of the muffle is it in the face at the bottom about center? If so don't worry about that one it is a drain whole. The one at the joint you may want to try replacing the Clamp if it is clamped and not welded. I would also use some exhaust tape to help seal it.

Ok, read over the posts again.... Try this remove one of the O2 Sensors and test drive. Post results....
