My 1990 Mitz. Colt Vista sits still when I shift into Drive or Reverse? The car runs fine in park, and has had tranny work. Is there some sensor, or relay, that might cause this to happen? Every now and then, it'll purge some transmissions fluid. When this started, checking the fluid level was my first thought, and it was fine also didn't see any leaks, or drip spots. A couple days after, a good sized spot was there. I found some sort of Transmissions Relay that seemed like it might be the problem. Darn thing is almost $400, and i havent bwen able to locate it online since. Any ideas?

it sounds like an internal trans issue to me.like a bad pump or torque converter.the pump pressure needs to be measured and more diag needs to be done.i would suggest that you take it to a competent tranny shop for diagnosis. the tools required to diag this type of issue are very expensive and it would be cheaper for you to just pay for a diag.

See I thought that it was the torque converter as well. I forgot to mention though, that this happened once before; and after a few days of not driving it, I hopped in it to check it out, and it took right off like nothing was ever wrong. This is why i was thinking a sensor, or relay. I wouldn't think that if it were the torque converter, it would've just "healed" itself for a month, then crapped out again. I don't do much transmission work though... so Could it??

I agree with you,you torque converter either works or it doesn't.it may very well be an electrical issue.but that kind of testing requires specialty tooling and knowledge of what you are testing.
