91 lebaron

Hi there

drove my 91 lebaron to the park, had fun, got back in and it started for about 5 seconds then died. The oil pressure is at 0 but it has plenty of oil. It turns over but will not start. The check engine light is on also the check gauges light. Any ideas?

Have you checked for spark? Have you checked the stored diagnostic fault code(s). Those will get you to the right circuit with the problem.

And thanks for the reply. The fault code came back 55, I did it 3 times, I think that means everything is normal. How would I check for spark? And I am so sorry I can't make a donation, I am out of work at the moment. Thanks again

Yup. Code 55 can be ignored.

Pull one spark plug wire off the spark plug, stick a screwdriver into it so it touches the metal terminal, then lay the screwdriver on top of the engine so the metal blade is close but not touching it. Watch for a spark to jump about 1/4" from the screwdriver to the engine about once per second while a helper cranks the engine.

If you have spark, suspect a failed fuel pump. Banging on the bottom of the gas tank while your helper cranks the engine will often get them started. If that works, it could be days or weeks before that happens again. Chrysler fuel pumps rarely stop while they're running. The typical failure is a failure to start up.
