Truck starts and will cut off soon after I crank it. Pulled the fuel line off and its getting fuel. But it is not firing. Pulled a plug wire off and put a spark plug in it and nothing. When it sits for a while it will start back up. If the fuel pump gets hot will that cause it to not fire or when it goes bad will that cause it to not fire?

No spark to the plugs isn't caused by the fuel pump. Have you checked the ignition module in the distributor? It sounds like that may be the problem.
