changing out starter on Chevy s-10

I have a problem getting the starter out of a 1991 Chevy S-10 with a 4.3 6 cyl I cant get to the nut on the solenoid and i cant get the starter to drop so i can get at them in other words I am stuck also i am doing this in a parking lot so advise would be much appreciated.
