I have a 1991 Chevrolet Lumina 3.1L V6 engine. I have the following three (3) problems.

(1) - The engine is running at a fast idle and will not idle down until you put the car in gear, but when you put the car in gear you can hear and feel the transmission shift real hard into gear. (car will run about 10 to 15 mph down the road by itself).

(2) – When coming into a town and I let off of the gas to slow down, you can feel both the engine and the transmission start******** the whole car, while all of this is going on you can also feel the engine idle up and down and try to die.

(3) – I have pulled a code reading on the car and all I get is a Code 32 / EGR Valve or Vacuum Hose Leaks. I have checked my vacuum hoses and have found nothing. Have not replaced the EGR Valve yet.

A friend of mine who works on older cars told me that he doesn’t think that a bad EGR Valve would cause all of the problems listed above, but it might cause some but not all of the problems.

Mr Rasmataz, The EGR Valve on my Lumina is a Digital EGR. There is no way to clean one that I know of except for buying a new one ($149.94 AutoZone Price). Would a bad EGR cause the problem that I have listed in PROBLEM #2 OF MY EMAIL?

Did you check the idle air control valve? The EGR will cause it to stall if its not closing completely
