when you try and start the car, at times a "theft protection" system is activated and you have to wait three minutes before you can start the car. What the car is doing now when you try to start it, is that it keeps repeating "theft protection, remove key from ignition, wait 3 minutes". After the 3 minutes it says "start car" but it won't start. It keeps going back to the "theft protection". How can I fix this or how can I over-ride or remove it?

The security light does not blink or stay on. It just gives me the info of the theft protection, the waiting time, then start car and when I try it does not start but repeats the message.

Yes, The real deal is that I am a woman and thought my ignition switch had went out, but it didn't. I know a couple of shade-tree mechanics that said I had broke a rod in the steering column and that I needed a new one. I have already put so much money in this car and I don't want to put any more into it so they rigged it up to start under the dash. This is where my problem starts about the theft protection system, they can get the car started, but with me I always run into this problem I just need to disarm the system so I can move the car to my new residence and check into selling it. Can anyone help me?

The reason why they messed with the wires, is that the rod in the steering column, going to the ignition broke, so I couldn't start the car. The ignition was still good, so they were trying to, I guess, kind of like hot-wire it so I could start it from under the dash. They can start it but I can't.

Well, when you have a limited income equaling under 400. monthly, plus having to take care of a grandchild with no family, you have to put your trust in people when they tell you they can fix something and don't charge you anything. I thank you so much for all your help and the Lord will bless me. He always has. HAPPY HOLIDAYS to you and yours!

this is a broken rack assy.if you tilt the wheel all the wheel all the way up it may start.but if it says wait 3 mins. to start that a bad key cyl.at this point youll need a tow truck to move it.the cyl. and the rack assy will have to be replaced.a mobile steering column repair co. is the cheapest way out.youll need to disassemble the whole upper column to repair.
