1990 VW Corrado 1.8l G60 mileage: 120,000. I'm having a problem starting my car when it is hot. When starting, the idle is very rough, and it feels as though there is not enough fuel. It idles rough and dies. It can take up to ten starts until the idle goes smooth enough for me to press the accelerator and get the Rpms up. Doing this while it is idling rough has no effect. Once the Rpms go up, the idle smoothes out at 1,100 and everything fine. Any ideas? I have no problems starting it when cold.

I have seen the engine coolant temperature sensor short out when hot causing the problem your are describing. Here is the location so you can swap it out. Also we can run the codes check out this guide to help
